Luckily, there are a few things you can try to make it run smoothly, from optimizing the browser itself to using some straightforward third-party software. Being the default browser on all Macs and one of the most popular browsers in the world, Safari is well-optimized for everything you might throw at it. That said, sometimes it might let you down by unexpectedly crashing or consuming all available memory. Depending on your machine, your might experience Safari performing slower from time to time. This could be rather normal or hint at a deeper problem. Here are the steps to find out.
How to Manage the Top Sites Feature in Safari
How To Customize The Number Of Top Sites In Safari [OS X Tips] | Cult of Mac
To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I've been having an issue for a while with the Safari top sites feature. Some of the website thumbnails on the top sites page do not update. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the individual sites since, on another Mac running the same OS and Safari, the sites DO update. I've searched and found several old posts regarding this issue recommending refreshing the sites. This does not seem to work for me.
Safari 13 Released for Mac
The Top Sites feature in Safari displays thumbnail images of the websites you visit most often. Rather than type in a URL or select a bookmark from the Bookmarks menu or the Bookmarks bar, click one of the thumbnails to go to a website quickly. The Top Sites feature was first introduced with the release of OS X Lion and Safari 5 as a possible replacement for bookmarks as the primary way to reach the websites you view most often. Since the initial inclusion of Top Sites in Safari, it has undergone a few changes and updates, resulting in some features requiring slightly different methods to access them.
Safari 13 includes improvements to privacy, security, and compatibility, and is therefore recommended to install for all Mac users. Additionally, there are some new features in Safari 13 that may be useful, including quicker access to Picture in Picture mode, improved tab searching, and an updated start page. The full release notes for Safari 13 are included further below.
